The methods used today for early and accurate diagnosis of breast cancer are mammography, ultrasonography and MRI. No method can be used interchangeably. They all have advantages, advantages and disadvantages due to their application and the information they provide. There is no radiation in breast MRI. The examination is performed in the prone position, without compression. Contrast material is administered intravenously. Breast MRI is especially preferred in cases where there is a known breast cancer, to investigate whether there is an additional focus accompanying the tumor, for screening purposes in high-risk cases due to family history, to visualize breast tissue and silicone in cases with silicone implants, and for screening purposes in young patients or people with dense breast tissue. It may be preferred as a problem solver when it cannot be decided whether the lesions detected on mammography and USG are benign or malignant. However, if a lesion detected on mammography and/or USG is suspicious for malignancy and biopsy is recommended for this reason, Breast MRI cannot be used instead of biopsy in these cases.
